Licensing a client installation
A multi-client capable license is required for a client installation. There is no demo license for a client installation. If you would like to test a client environment, please get in touch with your IQ4docs contact.
Just like in a normal IQ4docs installation, a IQ4docs client system is licensed to devices only. The number of printers, users, or server services in a distributed installation is not subject to any licensing options and these can be used in unlimited numbers.
To import a client license, proceed as follows:

To open the client management, enter http://<hostname>/multitenantadmin in the web browser (where hostname corresponds to the server on which the IQ4docs client management has been installed). If you are not already logged in, log in as an administrator (administrator with password admin by default).

In the client management, click System > License in the menu.

In the license area you will see some information about the license used. Warnings are also displayed if, for example, the license is not activated or a multi-client license is not in use.

Use user accounts | If this license is set to Yes, it is possible to evaluate print jobs for users, i.e. the user is recorded in the transaction. If this option is set to No, the user information is replaced by the user Standard User (an evaluation according to cost centers or departments is still possible), see also Storage of User-Related Data. |
OCR from e-mail / directory | This license option is required for the use of document processing (see Document processing). A prerequisite for issuing this license is that all Embedded Client devices be equipped with an OCR license. |
The license data can be copied as text to the clipboard using the copy function, e.g. to be able to send it to the contact person in case of license questions.

After the first installation, the demo license is already present in the system, it only needs to be activated (the activation of the demo license can only be done online - Internet connection required).

The license file can be conveniently downloaded online via a registration server and automatically imported into IQ4docs (this process is carried out by the DeviceService). You only need the IQ4docs serial number for this. Click the Download License button in the License area and enter the serial number. The number has the format specified here with hash signs (####-#####-######-#######).
After successful download, the license data is displayed in the license area. Please check the data for correctness.

If the IQ4docsDeviceService does not have a connection to the Internet - meaning you cannot download the license file - the license file can also be imported manually. You can obtain the license file from your IQ4docs contact person.
To import the license file, click the Load License File button in the license dialog. Select the (*.lic) file from your file system. After successful import, the license data are displayed in the license area. Please check the data for correctness.

You can easily activate the license online. If the DeviceService does not have an Internet connection available, you can also perform the activation by e-mail.

Click Activate License in the license dialog. Fill in at least all required fields marked with *.
After successful activation, the license dialog appears again and the activation warning will have disappeared. At Activated, the display is now Yes.
To deactivate a license again, click the Deactivate License button (only visible when the license is activated) and confirm the confirmation prompt (a demo license cannot be deactivated again).
For online activation, access to the web address http://was.supportarea.eu/rubicon/lpws.asmx must be possible.

In the license dialog box, click Activate License and then click E-Mail Activation. A window opens with the license information (similar to the abbreviated form below).

Select the entire text and copy it into an e-mail (alternatively, click on the link license@msegmbh.de). Send the e-mail to license@msegmbh.de.
When sending the e-mail, be sure to use the text format (not HTML, rich text or similar).
If the activation key has been successfully generated, you will receive an e-mail at the sending e-mail address containing an activation key. This is suitable for this installation. Use the license key as described below under Extend License.
After successful activation, the license dialog appears again and the activation warning will have disappeared. At Activated, the display is now Yes.
To deactivate a license offline again, you need a license key once again. Note that each license key can only be used once. You can obtain this from your IQ4docs contact person.
Licensing without an Internet connection should only be done if online activation is impossible.

You can add options to the license if necessary (e.g. more devices are used or similar). An important expansion is also the extension of the update permission. No Internet connection is required to expand the license with a license key.
Expansion of the system is done with a license key (options key). Click License Key in the license dialog and enter the license key. The license key has the format specified here with hash signs (####-####-####-####-####-####-#######). The License Data field now displays the license options included in the license key.
A license key must match the existing license and can only be used once.
In a client system, numbers per license option are distributed to the clients. In a system with two clients, the license could therefore contain 20 OCR licenses, of which one client receives 10 and the other 7. Three would not yet be assigned in this case (it is also not necessary for all existing license options to be completely distributed to the clients).

In the client's WebAdmin, the license dialog is only used to view the available license options.
